The context of citizen participation in water management in France

Abstract

More and more territorial managers are implementing participatory approaches in the context of projects, plans or programs. This article provides elements for understanding the context surrounding citizen participation approaches in France. It is based on the testimonies of three actors who shed light on the subject, each at their own territorial level: the local level, the Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse watershed and the national level.
