Abstract
Driven by the need to implement effective ecological restoration measures, prompted in particular by the new Nature restoration law, the R&D Pôle ECLA initiated the lake Demonstration sites network in 2016. This projects consists of initiating, on a network of sites including a shore zone restoration project, standardized and long-term monitoring of ecosystems and communities, before and after restoration works. Through multi-site studies around the French territory, this project, aimed both at improving knowledge of restoration ecology and at optimizing restoration works practices, by identifying the most effective ones. To date, the lake demonstration sites network consists of 13 sites from varied contexts and with various restoration works implemented (bank reshaping, offshore habitat diversification, reed bed restoration or revegetation), and aims to include other sites. Seeking to foster link between stakeholders, the project also allows for numerous exchanges between operators and scientists, but also between operators themselves.
