Barriers to the Adoption of Agroecological Practices: Insights from a Territorial Survey in the Midour Water Management Territorial Project

Abstract

In the Midour River Basin, a survey conducted among 124 farms in the Landes and Gers departments highlights changes in agroecological practices and the barriers limiting their adoption. While cover crops and reduced tillage practices are now widely implemented, direct drilling and greater crop rotation diversification remain more difficult to develop. The findings highlight the significant impact of economic and organisational constraints, as well as the need for technical and financial support tailored to the realities of farming operations to foster the agroecological transition and contribute to the sustainable management of water resources.
