Abstract
The term "landscape" is sometimes used loosely and sometimes in a highly specialised sense. It currently applies to very specific concerns of our society, which are difficult to assess. This paper sets out a brief assessment of the definitions of the word as well as the methods of evaluating landscape as an expression of the relationship between space and nature. The paper concludes that, in addition to the "key areas" of our landscape heritage, the "ordinary landscape" should also be studied.
