A model of torrent erosion

Abstract
Modelling erosion and the transport of solids into catchment areas is a major objective of research into the dangers resulting from torrential flooding. The general spatial and event ETC model attempts to represent all hydrological and erosion processes in catchment areas subject to torrential flooding, from rainfall through to liquid and solid outflows. Its design and two applications are described. It is currently being developed to allow it to be distributed to engineers responsible for characterising and issuing flood warnings or to define protective measures.
