Abstract
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicts an average sea level rise of 60cm for the 21st century and a probable increase in the frequency and violence of storms due to global warming. The consequences will be very important for coastal erosion. Most of these developments are hardly taken into account in the natural risk prevention plans of the coastal communities.
