Abstract
After a sudden collapse in the 1980s, the European eel population continues to decline, to the point that its current level threatens the survival of the species. It must be said that the eel encounters many obstacles on its migratory route, such as dams, excessive fishing, pollution, not to mention certain natural parameters, which regularly reduce the stocks. This article provides an update on the situation of this endangered species and on the protection measures envisaged at the European level.
