On methods of biodiversity data collection and monitoring

Abstract

Biodiversity monitoring programs are increasingly needed to assess the environmental impact of public policies at different scales. Yet only a fraction of biodiversity is usually monitored, measuring biodiversity is complicated, many factors are likely to reduce the quality of the measure. Thus, it is mandatory to consider these factors when planning a monitoring as to reduce their impact and to take them into account in the analyses. It seems important to progress towards standardised protocols and norms.
