Abstract
Introduced into Europe in the nineteenth century for its fur, the coypu has now conquered almost the entire French territory, becoming a source of nuisance and damage to crops, riverbanks and waterworks. A species classified as a pest, this rodent has nevertheless become a favourite of walkers and children on the quays of the city of Bordeaux. What is the acceptability in an urban environment of certain species considered undesirable?
