Note – Gestion des Jussies dans le Marais Poitevin

Abstract

The dense hydraulic coverage of the hydrographic network and the virtual absence of summer flow make the Marais Poitevin an area particularly favorable to the development of aquatic plants. During the 1970s, the first plant proliferations included extremely heavy coverings of duckweed and colonization of parts of the main channels by dense floating meadows of submerged species. Over the years, these native species have been partially replaced by exotic species including the Jussies water primroses. After a presentation of the site, the modalities and an assessment of the management put in place since then are presented.
