Abstract
We present a landscape dynamic analysis between 1998 and 2009 in the Grenoble catchment area, around 4450 km². We produced a detailed mapping for 1998, 2003 and 2009 using the merging of heterogeneous public data (in terms of spatial resolution and typology), remote sensing classification and photointerpretation. We produced a detailed mapping for agricultural area practices too, using multitemporal remote-sensing classification. Results showed, during the 1998-2009 period, a rapid urban growth (+29 km²) at the expense of agricultural areas (-27 km²). Newly artificialized areas are predominently placed in the valleys around Grenoble and existing urban areas, and also in the plain areas of Bièvre and Voiron. Agricultural areas are highly dominated by permanent (40.7%) or temporary (11.3%) grasslands in uplands, monoculture practices are placed in the plains and valley bottoms (9%), and more diversified practices appear on slopes (polyculture 25.5%, orchards 6.8%). The produced database is very fine and precise as well spatially as for typology. It allows to describe precisely land use and land cover and improve ecosystem services evaluations.
