Abstract
Thanks to the work carried out by the Natural History Museum of Besançon on the reproduction and breeding of apron under controlled artificial conditions, more than thirty thousand six hundred juveniles were released into the Drôme River between 2008 and 2018! Regular genetic monitoring of this reintroduced population has shown that it reproduces in the natural environment. Aprons born in captivity have improved scientific knowledge of the species' biology and raised awareness among a large audience at exhibitions in France and Switzerland.
