Evaluation of the purifying power of the Artificial Humid Buffer Zones at the outlet of a drainage system in the Lorraine region

Abstract
One of the obstacles to the deployment of artificial wetland buffer zones (AWBZs) at the drainage outlet is the large land right-of-way of these devices, especially when they are implemented on the scale of a group of plots. In this experiment carried out in Lorraine, a region where the proportion of drained surface area is higher than the national average, scientists tested the purifying capacity of rustic, small-sized AHHZs installed in the regulatory grassed strip. The promising results on reducing the flow of phytosanitary products make it possible to envisage their deployment in the field in addition to agricultural practices limiting the use of these molecules.
