With a view to reviving forest plantations in France, are seed and seedling producers in a position to meet the demand of reforestation workers?

Abstract

As part of its mission to support the Ministry of Agriculture, a working group of the "forest trees" section of the Standing Technical Committee on Selection (CTPS) reviewed the main forest species used in reforestation, it ruled "by expert opinion" on future needs and assessed the risks of shortages. With a view to increasing the need for forest seedlings, particularly in response to the new challenges facing the forest in the face of climate change, this analysis shows that tensions could arise in the supply of seeds and seedlings for several coniferous and deciduous species.
