Accounting for ecological connectivity in the land planning and management of riverbanks

Abstract

Transitions between aquatic and terrestrial environments, ecological corridors for the movement of numerous species, biodiversity refuges... riparian zones play a major role in the ecological connectivity of territories. This note provides elements to better understand the importance of preserving these environments and to encourage better consideration of ecological connectivity in the development and management of river banks.
