BD GeniVeg: a French database of soil bioengineering operations on riverbanks

Abstract

Since 2017, INRAE and OFB (French office for biodiversity) have been developing a database recording French soil bioengineering operations for riverbanks protection. This database is for both river managers, to know about operations carried out, and researchers, to capitalize on data in order to advance knowledge on these techniques. It currently contains more than 1000 operations, but data for each of them are very heterogeneous. This database, partially available online, makes possible to establish a first state of the soil bioengineering techniques in France in 2020. The enrichment must go on for the next few years to better cover the French territory and provide more information on the benefits and limits of these techniques.
