Abstract
In the French regulatory context, the sharing of water uses in rivers must ensure the maintenance of the ecological balance of rivers. In France, the French Office of Biodiversity (OFB) is in charge of most of the verification of the minimum required flow. INRAE has been involved for many years in supporting the OFB in this mission through trainings and the spreading of tools to facilitate and improve stream discharge measurement. This article presents two examples of recent achievements from the 2019-2021 OFB-INRAE agreement. The first example is the organisation of an interlaboratory comparison of discharge measurements using the tracer dilution method, the second is the development and dissemination of a model of transparent velocity head rod, a low-cost tool for measuring discharge.
