Abstract
From October 27 to 29, 2021, in Brest, the restitution of the results of the research program "Environmental relevance of the restoration of small meadows and salt marshes - PEPPS) was the occasion of a symposium on the future of coastal marshes in the light of global changes. One hundred and forty participants - teacher-researchers, students, representatives of local authorities and administrations, technicians, research departments, experts, managers of natural areas, etc. - met to share their experiences and knowledge acquired on marshes and their restoration. These three days allowed to review the state of knowledge through different recent research programs, developed at the national level, and data from the experience of protected areas managers. It was also an opportunity to collectively question the uncertain future of these coastal areas, starting with a definition of the environments, concepts and perceptions that they cover. This article summarizes the main ideas that structured the discussions.
