Abstract
Society's expectations of agriculture are increasing, especially regarding agroecology and water conservation. The shift from traditional "conventional" systems to more input-efficient systems is challenging farmers, pushing them out of their comfort zones and forcing them to confront new uncertainties. To guide farmers in this transition, tailored support systems need to be developed. It is in this context that the TASCII project (Agroecological Transition of Innovative Irrigated Cropping Systems) was carried out. Conducted in the Gers department, its objective is to support a collective of pioneering farmers in the agroecological transition, and more specifically in the transition towards conservation agriculture, with the aim of achieving input savings, including water savings. This article explores the support methods used in the agroecological transition, identifies the obstacles and opportunities encountered, and evaluates the impact of these methods. It also discusses the direct effects on agricultural practices and the indirect effects on surrounding communities and stakeholders. Additionally, the article situates these support methods within the broader context of the regional ecosystem that facilitates the agroecological transition of field crops.
