Abstract
Monitoring networks for French lakes—whether regulatory (WFD), scientific (OLA, Lacs Sentinelles), operational, or thematic (monitoring of restoration projects)—provide essential data for assessing the condition of lake ecosystems and their responses to various human and climate pressures. The ECLA R&D Cluster (Lake Ecosystems Research and Development Cluster) plays a leading role in centralizing and standardizing these data at the national level, particularly through the OLA information system and databases dedicated to WFD monitoring. These complementary systems form part of a coherent infrastructure capable of supporting managers and researchers in understanding, protecting, and restoring lake environments. Strengthening their governance and interoperability is a strategic priority in the face of future environmental challenges.
