A simple method for a technical audience to assess wetland functions in the context of mitigation

Abstract

The "national method for assessing wetland functions" is an operational advance for stakeholders involved in the assessment of mitigation for impacts on wetland functions. This simple method, based on scientific knowledge and developed in accordance with key mitigation issues in the regulations, provides, among others, engineering consultants, project owners and government services with a shared basis to assess wetland functions and compensatory measure results. Use of this method will promote as much as possible the no-net-loss of wetland functions on territories.
